Conferencia Phil Ross
Mycoworks

Phil Ross is a co-founder and CTO of MycoWorks, a San Francisco start-up that turns mycelium(the threadlike, vegetative part of fungus) into analogs for leather, soft foams, and other materials  – using carbon-neutral, chemical-free, organic, biodegradable and fully sustainable technology. In this presentation, Phil will describe the histories and practices that led to the use of fungus as a contemporary material for industrial applications, and will illuminate the challenges of bringing new biological materials into compliance

As an artist, Phil has exhibited work at the Venice Biennale of Architecture, New York’s MoMA among others; as a bioengineering scholar at Stanford University, he’s working to develop an internet of biological things.
